The Churchmanor Estates Company Plc submitted a new planning application to increase the size of the Food Hall on 31 December 2019. Their commitment to invest in the local road system remains as before.
Phase 2 will be held in 2020 and 2021.
The committee report listed my submission about why shops are left empty due to “vacant rates”, but the Conclusion and Recommendations were on a far grander scale. The detail within the submissions from rating experts is a true education on the subject, and I would urge landlords and tenants to make their views known during the second stage.
Planning permission has been obtained for the subdivision of the former Brantano and stripping-out works have commenced prior to the main contract. This will allow two new tenants to be trading in the summer. Announcement on the fascias to be made shortly.
The Treasury Committee are in the middle of an inquiry into Business Rates to scrutinise how Government policy has impacted business.
Deadlines for submission are 2 April 2019.
The committee are aware of my News Item from July 2018 and I have been asked to update and submit my comments on the Inquiry website. I would urge all landlords and tenants to make their views known.
